On September 6, 2024, Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women hosted a significant event to celebrate Teachers' Day and inaugurate the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit. The ceremony, held in the college’s multipurpose hall, began promptly at 3:00 PM and was organized by the College Student Union in collaboration with the Council for Educational Administration and Management (CEAM). The event was marked by a series of thoughtfully planned activities designed to honor teachers and introduce the new NSS initiative. Students welcomed teachers and guests with flowers and Teachers' Day cards, adding a personal touch to the occasion. The ceremony started with a solemn prayer song, setting a respectful tone for the proceedings.
The programme continued with a welcoming speech by Christy Rose Shajan, a student representative, who introduced the guests and extended a warm welcome to all. Dr. Savitha Mishra, Principal of Vidyasagar College of Education, Darjeeling, West Bengal, delivered an inspiring Teachers' Day message, emphasizing the profound impact teachers have on shaping the future. Her speech resonated with the audience, highlighting the significance of the teaching profession. Following this, Dr. V.M. Sasikumar, President of CEAM, inaugurated the NSS unit by lighting a ceremonial lamp. His address underscored the importance of the NSS unit in fostering social responsibility and community engagement among students. The guests were honored with mementos, and Dr. Sasikumar’s speech detailed the anticipated benefits of the NSS unit for the college community.
The celebration also featured a cake-cutting ceremony organized by the Student Union, adding a festive touch to the event. The cultural segment included a classical dance performance by the students, which was met with enthusiastic applause for its grace and artistry. This was followed by a musical drama that portrayed the pivotal role of teachers in contemporary Indian society, effectively illustrating the respect and admiration students have for their educators. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Amritha Nandhakishore, who expressed gratitude to the guests, teachers, and participants. The event was brought to a dignified close with the singing of the National Anthem.
