On September 6, 2024, Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women hosted a significant event to celebrate Teachers' Day and inaugurate the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit. The ceremony, held in the college’s multipurpose hall, began promptly at 3:00 PM and was organized by the College Student Union in collaboration with the Council for Educational Administration and Management (CEAM). The event was marked by a series of thoughtfully planned activities designed to honor teachers and introduce the new NSS initiative. Students welcomed teachers and guests with flowers and Teachers' Day cards, adding a personal touch to the occasion. The ceremony started with a solemn prayer song, setting a respectful tone for the proceedings.

The programme continued with a welcoming speech by Christy Rose Shajan, a student representative, who introduced the guests and extended a warm welcome to all. Dr. Savitha Mishra, Principal of Vidyasagar College of Education, Darjeeling, West Bengal, delivered an inspiring Teachers' Day message, emphasizing the profound impact teachers have on shaping the future. Her speech resonated with the audience, highlighting the significance of the teaching profession. Following this, Dr. V.M. Sasikumar, President of CEAM, inaugurated the NSS unit by lighting a ceremonial lamp. His address underscored the importance of the NSS unit in fostering social responsibility and community engagement among students. The guests were honored with mementos, and Dr. Sasikumar’s speech detailed the anticipated benefits of the NSS unit for the college community.

The celebration also featured a cake-cutting ceremony organized by the Student Union, adding a festive touch to the event. The cultural segment included a classical dance performance by the students, which was met with enthusiastic applause for its grace and artistry. This was followed by a musical drama that portrayed the pivotal role of teachers in contemporary Indian society, effectively illustrating the respect and admiration students have for their educators. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Amritha Nandhakishore, who expressed gratitude to the guests, teachers, and participants. The event was brought to a dignified close with the singing of the National Anthem. Overall, the celebration successfully honored the teaching profession and marked the beginning of a new chapter with the NSS unit, reflecting the college’s commitment to education and community service.

Students came together to design and fill in an intricate and beautiful rangoli pattern using bright colors, adding a stunning visual appeal to the surroundings. The rangoli quickly became the center of attraction, drawing admiration from everyone who passed by. The vibrant colors and detailed design symbolized the joy and diversity of Holi, making the environment lively and festive. As the celebrations progressed, students and faculty members gathered to play with colours. The spirit of togetherness and joy was clearly visible on every face. People from different backgrounds came together to share sweets ,exchange greetings, and enjoy the festival as one big family. The air was filled with laughter, music,and the sweet aroma of traditional Holi snacks. It was heartwarming to witness the spirit of camaraderie and inclusiveness that this festival promotes. One of the most interesting parts of the celebration was the representation of Holi customs from different states of India. Students prepared Simple steps from the different states to perform in the portico while playing the music . This diversity made the event both educational and enjoyable, helping everyone appreciate the rich cultural traditions that make Holi unique in every corner of the country. To further enhance the festive atmosphere, we decorated the college and classrooms with colorful elements. Handmade decorative items made using colored paper, streamers, balloons, adorned the campus. Each classroom had its own theme and students worked together to make the decorations attractive and meaningful. The entire college looked like a canvas splashed with joy and color. The celebration was not just about fun and festivity but also about coming together, embracing diversity, and creating lifelong memories. Events like this remind us of the importance of unity in diversity and the joy that lies in simple acts of celebration. Overall, the Holi celebration on March 28, 2025, was a grand success. It brought everyone closer, filled our hearts with happiness, and left us with colorful memories that we will cherish for a long time.
