Report on the Inauguration of College Union and Arts Club at Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women
On Wednesday, 11th September 2024, Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikkara, Thrissur, witnessed a significant event—the inauguration of the College Union and Arts Club. The day was filled with enthusiasm and celebration, marking the official launch of ‘AURA,’ the newly established college union, and the Arts Club.
The festivities began promptly at 9:30 AM with a vibrant ceremony. The college union, named ‘AURA,’ was introduced and launched by its members. A serene prayer dance at 9:40 AM set a hopeful tone for the proceedings, blending tradition with a sense of anticipation for the day's events.
Ms.Sreekripa PS, the Vice Chairperson, delivered a warm welcome address, setting a cordial atmosphere for the gathering. Sr. Dr. Gigi Paul, the Principal of the college, then highlighted the importance of the day, framing it as a pivotal moment in the college’s growth and development.
The Presidential Address was given by Ms.Anvy Vincent, the Chairperson of the College Union. In her speech, she outlined the vision and goals of ‘AURA,’ emphasizing the union's role in fostering student engagement and leadership. This was followed by a traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the official inauguration, performed by the distinguished guests present.
Sri. Santhosh Aechikkanam, a celebrated Kerala Sahithya Academy Award Winner (2008), delivered an inspiring address. His speech, rich with insights from his extensive teaching experience, focused on contemporary issues and provided valuable advice on engaging with the new generation of students. With his thoughtful words, he officially declared the inauguration of the College Union, ‘AURA.’
Ms.Archana S., the Fine Arts Secretary of the College Union, then extended an invitation to Rushail Roy, an All India Radio Artist, to inaugurate the Arts Club. Her speech emphasized the Arts Club's potential to enrich the college experience, and she further captivated the audience with a beautiful song performance, underscoring the importance of the Arts Club within the college.
The Benedictory Address was delivered by Rev. Sr. Jessin Therese, Provincial Superior and Manager of Navajyothi College. She honoured the distinguished guests with special mementos, recognizing their contributions and support to the college community.
The event also featured felicitations from several prominent figures, including Sri. Sreelal Sreedhar, Councilor of Thrissur Corporation; Ms. Lini Paul, an alumna; Rev. Sr. Jancy Leema, Headmistress of LFGH; Sri. Lijo Mooken, GTA President; and Ms. Darsana TV, Staff Representative. Their encouraging words added warmth and depth to the occasion.
The formal proceedings concluded at 11:45 AM with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Pearly Peter, the General Captain of the College Student Union. The audience stood for the National Anthem, bringing a dignified close to the formal segment of the program.
In the afternoon, the student union organized a vibrant cultural program in the multi-purpose hall at 1:30 PM. The students enjoyed a variety of performances, adding a celebratory touch to the day. The event was a resounding success, reflecting the enthusiasm and spirit of the college community.
The inauguration of ‘AURA’ and the Arts Club not only marked the beginning of these new initiatives but also set a precedent for future events, embodying values of creativity, community, and academic excellence.
